According to legends, Lac Long Quan married Au Co (De Lai's daughter) and gave birth to a bag of hundreds of eggs that hatched into hundreds of children. One day, Lac Long Quan said to Au Co: "I am like a Dragon, you am like a Fairy, water, and fire are different, we cannot live together." They immediately divided their children to live separately, fifty people followed their mother to the mountains, and fifty people went with their father to the sea, divided to govern those lands which were the ancestors of the Bach Viet groups.
