An Thai is an ancient site located in the west of the capital Thang Long under the monarchy. For a long time the land and people of An Thai have been very famous throughout the country for their fascination with the history of the nation and by their hands and talents have created the tradition of craft that lives and many of their unique products have gone into history, folk songs, legends.
The story about them is:
In Ly Nhan Tong’s regin, there are people named Vu Phuc. Vu Phuc is from Bach Hac village, married to a women from Minh Tao village (Xuan Tao village now). The husband and wife sell oil so the villagers used to call him Mr. and Mrs. Dau (Oil). At that time King Ly Nhan Tong suffered from serious eye pain. One day, the king saw a goddess, "eye disease is caused by the two rivers Thien Phu and To Lich meet, the water swirling in the Buoi market threatens the corner of Dai La. If the king want to be cured he need to worship the river god. On an early morning, whenever anyone comes across this river, throw them into the water to keep the river calm. "
One morning, the mist was not even dissolved, two people came to the river. They are the Vu Phuc from Minh Tao village, who is carrying oil to the market. The soldiers stopped them. "We wake up early and only return when it is dark, only know the trade business now unopposed, blocking the road, this is a blessing or a painting?" The apostle did not say anything to the king, saying: "We followed order to guard the river bank see the old man selling the oil went to the river and kept him, what will we do next?”.
The king ponders thoughtfully and said: "Should take the words of the god in the dream to tell them clearly, should not force them."
"No one want to die, but the voice to the next generation is precious. In the old days, King Vu Vuong was sick, Zhou Gong publicly begged to die instead, showed incredible loyalty, people now still praise. If you two do not like a narrow life in the alleyways, death also makes the king's loyalty live, the fragrance still remains, to maintain strong hold together with the land for eternity forever. Do the gods a favor to help the people, isn’t it better? ".
Mr. Vu Phuc calmly said:
"No one wants death, but reputation is hard to buy. People born in this life that was remembered are not only those with golden belt, gem shoes. I swarmed around with double barrels, why have to ask for long living!
As the two looked up to heaven, they prayed: "My husband and I sacrifice to help the king, now the heaven please certified." When they finished, they jumped into the river. That day was November 30.
From there the river was calm, the dike was maintained, the citadel was not eroded; The king made the communal house, confer the two to be gods.
King came down to find his children, relatives moved to Tich Ma (now known as An Thai) to keep the mausoleum. So far, the Vu family in An Thai is the descendant of the goddess.
Every year to commemorate Mr. and Mrs. Vu Phuc sacrificed themselves for the Ly dynasty and the stability of the Thang Long, on the day of the 30th of November the villagers made sacrifices, 10 February to open the festival. Previously, the An Thai Festival was a big festival in the area. The sacrifices include sticky rice, fat beef and other items according to the will of god. Statues and epitaphs indicate that the communal houses of Vu Phuc and his brother were built from the Ly dynasty (11th century). In the reign of King Le Hy Tong (1680-1705) was restored. Since then, the communal house has been restored and repaired several times. After each remodeling, the villagers set up tablet to record the incident.
An Thai communal house was built on high land in the southwest. Previously the communal house has a large and complete architectural scale. In peace time, paving the way has made some parts of the overall planning affected the relic gradually. In 1998, the embellishment was made with a large scale including: four pillars, three-arched-gates entrance, main temple, yard walls and auxiliary works, restoration of the tombstone Vu Phuc. Currently, the communal house consists of a large gate in the front, a three-arched-entrance gate, front yard and the altar.
After nearly a thousand years of existence, An Thai communal house has overcome the harsh challenges of time, changing the vicissitudes of the country's history. The peaceful time can only change the appearance of the communal house, the great value is formed from the moment the new monument was born and still survive today.
