Introduce
Kẻ Bưởi is a region located right next to the Tô River, consisting of many villages: Nghĩa Đô Village with four sub-villages: Tân Village, Dâu Village, Nghè Village, and An Phú Village. Yên Thái Village with three sub-villages: Cả Village (Yên Thái), Thọ Village (An Thọ), and Đông Village (Đông Xã). This area still preserves many historical and cultural relics, each carrying elements of universal value at different levels. Among them, Long Tỉnh Temple stands out as a historical site that has been closely connected to the local people for generations. Long Tỉnh Temple is an ancient relic that has existed for a long time in the former Kẻ Bưởi region. Previously, the temple was located in An Thái Village, featuring a large-scale architectural structure built on a spacious, elevated, and well-ventilated area. Additionally, it was conveniently situated near bustling roads and the busy Bưởi Market, a hub of trade and commerce. According to the village elders of An Thái, on market days, full-moon days, and the first days of the lunar month—especially during festivals and the Lunar New Year—both traders and local residents would visit the temple to worship the saint, praying for health and prosperity in their business endeavors.
Today, the temple is located at No. 517 Thụy Khuê Street, Bưởi Ward, Tây Hồ District. Due to urbanization, the temple's space has significantly shrunk, now occupying only a few dozen square meters, surrounded by local residences. The temple has a modest architectural scale and is situated right next to a sharp hairpin turn, considered a bottleneck of Thụy Khuê Street. The relic is positioned on an elevated plot of land, next to the Dragon’s Eye Well, which was filled in 1985. From a geo-cultural perspective, Long Tỉnh Temple is located between Thụy Khuê Street and Hoàng Hoa Thám Street, with the Tô River flowing in the distance in front of it. Moreover, the temple is positioned at the head of a dragon-shaped landform that curves from the northwest. Specifically, Nam Thăng Long Road is likened to the dragon’s body and tail, while its head is the An Thái and Bái Ân villages, with one of its eyes being the ancient well adjacent to the shrine dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. Dầu’s younger brother. Inside the temple, there is an ancient tree with a peculiar shape—its top extends straight upwards, while its branches form a broad canopy that spreads out towards Thụy Khuê Street. Due to spatial limitations, the architectural scale of the temple has been reduced. Today, Long Tỉnh Temple follows a "Nhị" (二) character layout, consisting of the Front Hall and Harem, along with other structures such as the courtyard, the gate, and the surrounding wall system.
