Yen Phu ward was formerly Yen Phu village, the original name is Yen Hoa, Quang Duc district in the capital of Thang Long in Le dynasty. This is an ancient Vietnamese village with a long history of Thang Long land, to the early 19th century, Yen Hoa village belongs to Vinh Thuan district, Hoai Duc. In 1831, Yen Hoa village belonged to Hanoi. In 1841, by the name of Mrs. Ho Thi Hoa, the mother of King Thieu Tri, Yen Hoa was renamed Yen Phu.

In 1287, Nguyen - Mong invaders pulled troops to invade our country for the third time. Lang Lang recruited thousands of soldiers, claiming "Heavenly army" to join forces with Hung Dao King Tran Quoc Tuan and other generals to defeat the enemy in Van Kiep, Bach Dang... After the enemy was destroyed, Uy Linh Lang was conferred as Dam Dam Dai Vuong, governed area Dam Dam (West Lake today).
After defeating Nguyen Mong, Prince Linh Lang abandoned everything to be a monk like the common customs of the Tran Dynasty. At 36 years old Uy Linh Lang died on 8/8/1300.
